The Beauty Within We've all heard the saying that "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder." In a physical sense the saying is true, but when you want to feel good about yourself, the beauty must be felt from within. It is not a physical beauty, seen from the eyes of someone else. It is a feeling of confidence, a feeling of happiness about who you are and what you want to accomplish for yourself, not about how someone else perceives you. Even when you look in the mirror, you are looking at a reflection of your physical self and a mirror cannot reflect beyond that which is on the surface. What you see in the mirror can have a dramatic effect on your psyche, just like someone else saying you are attractive, or not, you say it to yourself. For both men and women, there are so many different kinds of makeup and skin care products on the market today, so many different brands of clothes and shoes, accessories, jewelry, and other products to make us look and feel beautiful. But inner beauty can not be topped. Inner beauty is a fascinating phenomenon. Physical beauty is something that can be seen and is appealing to the eyes. Inner beauty is more dynamic, more fascinating. It can be sensed and felt, but it can not be seen, except for your smile. Your smile speaks volumes about your personality and once you smile, it makes everyone around you take notice and it makes you feel like a winner. Inner beauty is you, it's your personality, your confidence in yourself, your positive feeling about yourself and it gives you the freedom to be yourself and to love yourself. Everybody has flaws. Nobody is perfect. Even those who are physically beautiful don't have a monopoly on perfection. They may be beautiful on the outside, but tormented on the inside. This is to say that physically attractive people may have issues in other areas that you can't see. But we can't dwell on what may or may not be going on with others. You should concentrate on making yourself the best that you can be. Everybody wants to be physically attractive to others, especially to the opposite sex. Outer beauty is good, but inner beauty is supreme. Once you learn to love yourself, the physical beauty will show itself in ways you never thought possible. And you will begin to understand that not everyone is so hung up on the physical side of beauty. As was stated earlier, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Others will look at you and make judgments on how you dress, your sense of fashion, how you put your makeup, what shoes you wear, what perfumes or colognes you like, and all other issues, but it's how you look at yourself that counts. If you love yourself, others will find it easier to love you and they will be attracted to you for who you are, not who you are made up to be. ********* |
