Scholarships For Hispanic Americans
There are many scholarships and grants available to Hispanic American students to help pay for college and other higher educational learning experiences. Below is a partial list of scholarships and grants that are given by businesses, the government, private citizens, schools, churches, and other organizations.
Latin American Educational Scholarship
Type of Award: Scholarship, renewable
Intended Use: For full-time undergraduate, graduate or non-degree study at accredited postsecondary institution in United States.
Eligibility: Applicant must be Hispanic American, Mexican American, or Puerto Rican. Applicant must be residing in Colorado.
Basis for selection: Aapplicant must demonstrate financial need, high academic achievement and service orientation.
Application requirements: Recommendations, essay, transcript, Proof of eligibility.
Additional information: Must be Hispanic American or actively involved in Hispanic American community. Must fulfill ten hours of community service during the award year. applicant must reapply each year.

Hispanic Youth Leaders Scholarship
Type of award: Scholarship.
Intended use: For full-time undergraduate study at accredited 2-year or 4-year institution.
Eligibility: Applicant must be Hispanic American or Puerto Rican. Applicant must be high school senior residing in New York.
Application requirements: Recommendations, transcript.

Dallas Architectural Foundation-Humphries/HKS Scholarship
Type of award: Scholarship, renewable
Intended use: For undergraduate study at 4-year institution in or outside United States.
Eligibility: Applicant must be Hispanic American Asian American, African American, Mexican American, Puerto Rican or Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander. Applicant must be U.S. citizen residing in Texas. Applicant must be high school senior.
Basis for selection: Major/career interest in architecture.
Application requirements: Portfolio, recommendations, essay, transcript, nomination by Dean of acrchitecture school.

ALPFA Scholarship Program
Type of award: Scholarship
Intended use: For full-time undergraduate or master's study at accredited postsecondary institution. Designated institutions: Institutions in the United States and Puerto Rico.
Eligibility: Applicant must be Hispanic American. Applicant must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
Basis for selection: Major/career interest in accounting; business or finance/banking. Applicant must demonstrate financial need.
Application requirements: Essay, transcript, recommendations, proof of eligibility, proof of citizenship, proof of family income.
Additional information: Minimum 3.0 GPA. Must be pursuing degree in business, finance, or accounting.

Los Padres Foundation College Tuition Assistance Program
Type of award: Scholarship
Intended use: For full-time undergraduate or graduate study at 4-year or graduate institution in United States.
Eligibility: Applicant must be Mexican American or Hispanic American or Puerto Rican. Applicant must be high school senior. Applicant must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident residing in New York or New Jersey.
Basis for selection: Applicant must demonstrate seriousness of purpose and service orientation.
Additional information: Applicant must have minimum 3.0 GPA and proof of low income. Applicant must be first generation in family to attend college. Award is renewable up to four years. Must complete 100 hours of community service by June 1st of first college year. Application available at financial aid office, high school counselor's office, and online.

Second Chance Program
Type of award: Scholarship
Intended use: For undergraduate study at at accredited vocational, 2-year or 4-year or graduate institution.
Eligibility: Applicant must be Mexican American, Hispanic American or Puerto Rican. Applicant must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident residing in Puerto Rico, New York or New Jersey.
Basis for selection: Applicant must demonstrate financial need.
Additional information: Applicant must have high school diploma or GED and be out of high school for more than a year prior to submitting and never attended a postsecondary institution. Awardees must complete 100 hours of non-faith-based community service by June 1 of the first year in program.
