The Griffith Observatory
The recently renovated Griffith Observatory is located
in the hills above Los Angeles, California. It was built on
land that was donated to the City of Los Angeles by Col. Griffith J. Griffith in 1896.
Griffith also left funds in his will to build the observatory, exhibit hall,
and planetarium. The construction was started in 1933 and was opened to the
public in 1935. The Observatory and it's other exhibits attract
thousands of visitors each year.
